Puget Sound Competition Call for Entries

Would you like to:

• Get valuable, objective feedback on your work?
• Gain formal recognition through awards for outstanding technical communication products that you or your company produced?

This call for entries is your invitation to participate in the Society for Technical Communication (STC) Online, Technical Publications, and Technical Art competitions. The competitions are open to all technical communication professionals; you do not have to be a member of STC to participate.

The Puget Sound STC Chapter is accepting entries until October 2, 2009.

Valuable and Affordable and for all

Many organizations have found the competition to be an excellent source of feedback for online help, tutorials, Web sites, reference books, brochures, and posters. Each entry is evaluated by two or more judges from our technical communication community. The judges base their feedback on international standards developed by the Society for Technical Communication.

The base competition fee is only $70 per entry for members.

Entry Requirements

Entries must contain sufficient technical, scientific, medical, or similar content to qualify as technical communication and must have been produced or substantially revised within the 24 months preceding the competition. All entries must have been originally prepared for and accepted for publication by a client, employer, or publisher, and are subject to the Competition Rules.

Level of Awards

There are three levels of recognition for each competition: Distinguished, Excellence, and Merit. At the international level, the awards structure is the same as at the local level.

Award-recipients will participate in our Competition Showcase event in January. Contributors who receive Distinguished awards in the Online or Technical Publications competitions may submit their entries in the 2010 International STC competitions.
